Hurt Locker manic euphoria; Bullocks actually a "best actress" this
year? Jeff Bridges may have deserved it for something, but was this
it? (he for instance imo wasn't as good this year as Mickey Rourke was
last year; of course they weren't up against each other either...; bad
Blake though wasn't a "role of a lifetime" or anything.) Oscars as
usual seemed almost precalculated for special "moments" to valorize
the industry and......itself. Christof Walz's choice was likely the
correct one, but he's finally gone over the top after so many awards
in the scripted analogizing of his acceptance sppeches.
In all (and exemplified by the saccharine best actor and actress
"tributes") the general tenor of the festivities was of a cloying La-
La-Land love-in. And they all looked so good doing it.
Maybe the over-all snubbing of Jim Cameron provided some kind of
actual pleasure to the event........ |
