Both Up and Avatar were worthy of 'Best Picture' nominations and neither
need qualify with the asterisk of 'gimmick'. I suppose that District 9 is
worthy, too, but only because the field was expanded to 10. I rather like
Watchmen and Ponyo as well, though no matter what other films (or how many
other films) are nominated, Avatar would be the clear winner this year.
