The "hoax" is deduced by examining the objections. I think we can agree
that a typical child molester poses a far greater threat to children than a
typical homo.ual. Those who seek to ban homo.ual marriage based on a
threat to children, have not
suggested that we prohibit child molesters from marrying and/or having
children. Nor have they suggested that we prohibit chronic alcoholics from
marrying and/or having children. The root of their objection rests with
homo.uality, not with any special concern for the welfare of children in
marriages. Of course many of them care about children, it's just that their
obsession is with homo.uals.
The goal of the "hoax" is to make the legalization of the religious view
more acceptable. It's more honest to push for a religion-based
constitutional amendment, but that honesty will serve to undermine public
support.
